Treating Pelvic Pain with Myofascial Release Therapy

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

Pelvic pain is a major source of discomfort for men and women. Diseases such as endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome PCOS, Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, and others, can cause pressure and discomfort in the pelvic region.

In response to the pain, we tend clench the pelvic floor muscles, abdomen, and low back further adding to the discomfort. Surgery, fractures, falls, nerve tension, and compression and muscle spasms can also be a source of pelvic pain. Fortunately, pelvic floor therapists are highly trained in treatment of this area.

Using hands-on techniques, teaching the client self care, and reducing the behaviors which promote the pain, relief can be found.

In this video, you'll hear from a patient who was treated by our therapist, Jane O'Brien Franczak.
