  • Benefits of Positive Thinking on Health

What we say and think matters. Our minds are powerful tools that help to shape our reality and how we feel. The more we focus on something, the more energy we invest into it, therefore, the more it grows. When it comes to our health, what do we want to feed? What is moving through our body that we wish to highlight? If we are constantly sitting in pain and thinking about our discomfort, could we be intensifying it? What if we brought more awareness to our thoughts and tried to reframe them? In place of, "I am tired," or "I am in pain," we were to say to ourselves, "I am full of energy," or "I am strong and healthy."? This may feel unnatural at first, but our brain is sending messages to our bodies and our bodies respond. What messages do you want to send? Read more about how positive thinking can benefit us here!

  • Healing Hands for Pets - Part 2

You may recall our adorable puppy patient Benny that we treated a couple of months ago... he was brought in after a car accident that impacted his head. While he didn't appear to suffer any severe injuries, it was obvious to his owner that he wasn't OK. His behavior and eating habits changed, making him unsocial and unexcited about food. Immediately after a short session with Jane where he received intentional healing touch via craniosacral therapy Benny perked up and started demonstrating his normal, chipper, social behavior. Here is an update on our beloved, four-legged, furry friend: Benny, the dog received a lot of prayers and craniosacral therapy during his session. He felt the LOVE and care from his owner and from Jane. He is doing well and back to being his young puppy self. How can it be that our touch, energy and intention can heal? Animals innately know what they need. They don’t put up resistance or try to figure out the who, what, where, when, how of their issues. They can simply BE present while on the table. They enter the room and trust. Like humans, they are wary at first, but they soon FEEL the value by experiencing the benefit, even if it subtle. They aren’t thinking about where they need to be next or the consequences of treatment, or their next meal. They just are in the MOMENT of the experience, receiving total love and care. We can learn from animals. Learn to listen to our bodies. Play when feeling feisty. Run, jump, STRETCH, rest. Enjoy our companions. Indulge in being touched and loved. Be in the moment. Take time to receive what is being offered. At SerendipPT, we offer Myofascial Release, a hands-on healing and caring session, designed just for you, based on what your body needs. Dry needling is used for those troublesome areas. Suggestions for self-treatment are given to further your process. Love is at the center of each treatment. We love what we do. We love our clients. We pray for each of you during your sessions. Many times, we will pray together with our clients. Let us help you get back to YOU. Come in for a session. Come in and allow us to help you to BE in the moment and heal.

  • Sugar = Inflammation

Added sugars are easy to come by and found in many processed foods. While indulging in cravings for sweet foods may feel good in the moment, sugar has a bit impact on the body. When it comes to pain in the body, sugar causes inflammation, only exasperating symptoms. By taking a holistic approach to health, our goal is, not only to address symptoms, but also to overcome the issue. Lifestyle changes may be a part of the journey to wellness and feeling good in our bodies. These adjustments may feel hard, but there are plenty of ways to find joy and fun in ways that serves our overall wellness. You can read a brief article on the effects sugar has on our bodies here.

  • Emotions + Hip Pain

Have you ever heard that your body holds emotions in the hip area? Some even refer to the hips as the body's junk drawer, believe it or not! What does this mean? As you can imagine, as we move through life what happens to us affects us. The body is attuned to all emotions, "good or bad" and, at times, these feelings can become stored or trapped in the body. Through movement and therapy, we can learn to give ourselves a healthy channel to release our emotions through our hips. Read more about the connection between the hips and emotions here!

  • Healing Hands for Pets

Many of you that have felt the benefits of Myofascial Release Therapy and bodywork can attest to the magic of this holistic form of treatment. We use intentional touch and movement to assist the body in restoring its alignment and relieving tension. Energetically, this is also cultivating calm and peace in our body. What if I told you that energy healing is available and helpful to animals?! Meet Bennie, my new four-legged patient! A client of mine mentioned that her dog recently had an unfortunate accident and was hit by a car. The contact made with the car was to his head. Since the accident, Bennie wasn't acting himself. He wasn't eating well and his bubbly, energetic, social personality turned shy and lethargic. I encouraged my client to bring Bennie in for some healing touch and energy work... Bennie was extremely receptive to therapy and remained perfectly calm while I did cranial work on him. After treatment, he jumped up on the table, asking for more! He also had a blast socializing with everyone at the yoga studio! Acting like his true self! What's more, is he ate a hearty meal later that day. Both my client and I were happy to see Bennie recovering from such a traumatic experience. It is a miracle he wasn't seriously injured and a joy to see him coming back into his beautiful, happy self again!

  • A picture is worth a thousand words!

There is a reason I specialize in Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR). This modality works and produces fast, long-lasting results. Over the years, I have honed my skills to be able to gather a lot of information, simply by looking at someone's stance and posture. These indicators allow me to assess the individual and know how to proceed during treatment, tailoring our session to prioritize their body's needs. Take a look at the picture below! The pictures of these individuals were taken before and after just one session. See the comments below on what it is I see when I look at these images. First, let's focus on the top images of the man in yellow. The left image was taken before treatment. Notice how elevated his right hip is and how he is leaning towards his left. Also, can you see how his left hand is lower and his right shoulder is higher? Now, after his 60-minute session of Myofascial Release Therapy, you can see the difference in the picture on the top right. His trunk is no longer learning, his waist has evened out. His shoulders are even and his hands are almost at the same level! For our lady in orange! The bottom left picture is before her treatment. Right away I can see how her right shoulder is lower and her right hand appears longer. Her trunk is also compressed, notice the skin fold at the waistline? Here she is after MFR treatment on the bottom right. Her shoulders and hands are now even, the skin fold is gone and so is her trunk compression! Imagine what consistent treatment can accomplish!
